January 21, 2010 (New York, NY) – The 2010 Lilith Tour is pleased to announce exciting line-up additions to the summer touring festival: Loretta Lynn, Heart, Norah Jones, Cat Power, Sia, Gossip, La Roux, Beth Orton, Ceci Bastida, Erin McCarley, Frazey Ford, Julia Othmer, Kate Nash, Lights, Missy Higgins, Lissie, Marina & The Diamonds, Priscilla Renea, Rosie Thomas, Melissa McClelland, Toby Lightman and Elizaveta. More major artists will be announced in the coming weeks.

Additional Cities Announced

Additionally, 15 more cities have been revealed, with more to come in the next few weeks: Edmonton, San Diego, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Detroit, Hartford, Raleigh, Charlotte, Nashville, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Houston and Austin.

The 2010 Lilith Tour previously announced a multi-platform media partnership with ABC Entertainment, which entails creative collaboration in weaving confirmed artists and Lilith across ABC’s programming and online in the months leading up to and during next summer’s tour, including ABC’s physical presence at each tour date. Hola, chicos! La verdad es que cuando salió esta noticia no tenía ni idea de qué era la Lilith Fair ni tenía tiempo para averiguarlo. Pero como últimamente me estoy interesando más por Sarah McLachlan, he descubierto que es una muy buena idea para una muy buena causa y además tenemos la suerte de que Norah participe.

La gira ideada por Sarah recibió el nombre de Lilith Fair. De acuerdo a algunas leyendas, Lilith fue la primera esposa de Adán. Pero, al contrario de Eva, tenía un carácter fuerte. Adán se rehusó tratar a Lilith como una igual, así que ella lo dejó.

Al contrario de lo que al comienzo se pensó, Lilith Fair no es una gira feminista, sino una "celebración a la mujer". El objetivo de reunir grupos y solistas femeninas fue celebrar la belleza y el talento de la mujer.

La misma Sarah explica el significado del nombre Lilith Fair:
<<Agregué la palabra 'fair' para balancear las connotaciones que alguna gente pudiera percibir en Lilith. 'Fair' que significa bello, 'fair' que significa justo y 'fair' que significa que es una feria --Siempre me han gustado las palabras que tienen diferentes significados>>

Y pese a que la prensa especializada y la gente de la industria musical no creyó que esta idea pudiera tener éxito, las tres temporadas de Lilith Fair resultaron un gran éxito. Se presentaron 139 shows desde 1996, siendo el último el del 31 de agosto de 1999 en Edmonton, Canadá. Sarah McLachlan ha decidido retirarse un tiempo para dedicarse a formar una familia, pero los 19723 kilómetros recorridos con Lilith Fair entregaron más 547 mil dólares a albergues para mujeres maltratadas o violadas.
